Assisted Yoga – People describe the session as similar to doing yoga without the work, and leave with a relaxed but energized feeling. The first half of the session is a way of preparing the body for the poses by focusing, grounding, breath work and intention. Accupressure techniques and yoga postures come together in a way that provide some of the following benefits: - Increases range of motion - Relieves muscle soreness - Promotes general relaxation and reduces emotional stress - Elongates and releases fascia. Assisted Yoga is similar to a Thai Massage which is considered to be energy work rather than bodywork. This is because the Yoga Instructor is not guided by anatomical structures or physiological principles but by following the acupressure and reflexology network of lines and pathways throughout the body. These lines are to either stimulate or relax the body’s energy which in turn affects the patient’s mind and body in promoting the natural healing process. The central importance to Assisted Yoga is that the yoga postures and stretching are primarily for their effects on the energy lines, and secondarily for their ability to improve flexibility and strength. Assisted Yoga can be varied to all ages and serves as a great compliment being suitable to a wide range of physical needs and abilities as well as all levels of exercise or activity.
